Curriculum
Children attending Pippa’s Group engage in a variety of activities following the Early Years Foundation Stage programme which covers the six basic areas of learning:. These are: -
- Personal social and emotional development - we provide experiences and support to enable children to develop a positive sense of themselves.
- Creative development - we provide a rich learning environment where children’s creativity can develop, supported by the intervention of sensitive and responsive adults
- Knowledge and understanding of the world – we help children develop knowledge, skills and understanding to enable them to make sense of the world in an environment with a wide range of stimulating indoors and outdoors activities.
- Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy – mathematical understanding is developed through stories, songs, games and imaginative play. Children enjoy experimenting with numbers, shapes and measures.
- Communication language and literacy - children are taught to develop a love of books and stories. Their language development is enhanced by singing songs, chanting rhymes and talking in role play situations.
- Physical development - the curriculum is specifically structured to address individual needs. The resources include equipment and activities for the development of small motor skills. Access to apparatus for developing large motor skills and exercising are provided in the large hall and the external play area.
